The company was founded in 1860 by
VICENTE ROMERO CARRANZA, whose
parents Florencio Romero and Agueda Carranza settled in Sanlúcar de
Barrameda (Cádiz, Spain) in 1820. Their son Vicente acquired wine and
sherry stocks as a base to start a great winery. During this period Don
Vicente continued running the wine business and, married to Ana
Villareal y Gutierrez, launched the company under the registered name "Vicente Romero Carranza" and
which later, when Don Vicente died in 1890, continued with his three
sons Vicente, Baldomero and Pedro Romero Villareal as "Sons
of Vicente Romero Carranza"
